CS103 · Learning materials

Twelve chapters. Each is self-contained: outcome, primary reading, teaching, two misconceptions, worked example, self-check, problem set, solutions. Chapter cross-references are links — if a chapter says it assumes another, the link is there to go back to.

Primary texts

  • Stanford CS142 lectures (Spring 2023) — lecture title and date given per chapter.
  • High Performance Browser Networking (hpbn.co) — chapter numbers given per chapter; it supplies the DNS, TLS and caching depth CS142 leaves open.
  • Eloquent JavaScript 3e and Web Browser Engineering — cited where a chapter leans on them.

Assessment: problem sets 20 marks per chapter (formative, 240 total); coursework labs per the module page; the examination paper is a separate page.
